Cleaning Tahoe’s beaches, one robot at a time

April 25th, 2025 | Published by Katy Jo Caringer of ECO-CLEAN Solutions

We’re excited to share the results of another successful season! Our 2024 BEBOT Storymap is now live, showcasing the collective impact of our solar-powered beach-cleaning robots across Lake Tahoe.

Thanks to the support of our partners and community, 21 beaches were cleaned last season — covering over 1 million square feet and removing over 25,000 pieces of litter that could have otherwise polluted the shoreline or broken down into harmful microplastics.

As we celebrate the success of 2024, we’re already gearing up for an even bigger year ahead!

In just a few weeks, we’ll officially kick off our 4th operational season, continuing our mission to keep Lake Tahoe’s beaches cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable during peak travel times, as well as throughout the year.

Powered by science, community, and innovation, our solar-electric BEBOTs will once again be sifting through sand, removing debris before it reaches the Lake, and helping set a new standard for sustainable beach maintenance.

A huge thank you to our incredible partners at Keep Tahoe Blue and the Desert Research Institute for their collaboration in helping us collect, analyze, and share this important data.

ECO-CLEAN Solutions is proud to be a recipient of funding provided by the North Tahoe Community Alliance through the TOT-TBID Dollars at Work Program. This support has played a vital role in expanding our operations and ensuring that our beach-cleaning efforts make a measurable difference in protecting Lake Tahoe’s natural beauty.

Together, we’re proving that deploying innovative technology solutions can lead to a cleaner, healthier, and #litterfree Tahoe — for generations to come. 💙
